Board Games for Welcome Home Oasis
Welcome Home Oasis (WHO) is a less restrictive housing situation for youth who are transitioning from juvenile hall. WHO is in Long Beach and houses 8 young men, and provides them the support, resources and programming to help re-enter back into the community.
Through WHO, the youth will also have access to jobs at Dirty Pepperoni (Welcome Home Oasis Coffee Shop) and Dirtbags Shop - Motorcycle Apprenticeship Program -- which is super cool! Helen has a tshirt that I covet. (Also note small business owners: this is a great way to build a business AND do good!)
Because WHO emphasizes the importance of creating a community for these young men, they have asked that we supply them with board games. The young men have made a list of the games they want – remember this is about them, not us, so don’t steer from this (see google doc).
All you need to do is buy a board game and drop it off/have it delivered to Helen or Peggy’s by Aug 9th. These young people need some fun and games in their life. Thank you for providing that!
And thank you Helen, Peggy, Melissa and the whole Do-Goodery Team for making this happen!
