Candy Cane Action at Home Depot

A Candy Cane Call Out at Home Depot

You know what we want for Christmas and Hanukkah and the Winter Solstice?! For Home Depot to stop allowing ICE to use their parking lots as hunting grounds!

Since that’s not something Santa can fit down the chimney, we’re going to have to do the work ourselves.  And we are going to have to do it in a language Home Depot understands: money.

So, on Sunday, Dec 21, 1-2 pm volunteers from HODG, ikar, TIOH, JPLA, and LAVoice will be handing out CANDY CANES at the Home Depot in Hollywood, and asking folks to buy their holiday hardware, Christmas trees and everything else at some place OTHER THAN Home Depot.  Each candy cane will have a list of nearby ALTERNATIVES – like Harbor Freight, Anawalts, Callahan’s (on Western) – tied to it.

The goal is for this to be a warm, gentle protest that welcomes people in and lets them know what they are supporting when they shop at Home Depot.

We’re also proud to support NDLON’s ICE Out of Home Depot Campaign and tool kit (see below) and urge you all to take a look at their suggestions of actions we can all take this week to stand with immigrant workers and families.
