Hoops4Justice Friendraiser
Hoops4Justice is the incredible organization that Helen, Stacey —and Rep Bryan—work closely with. As the name suggests, they use basketball as a way to connect with, support, and empower incarcerated and formerly incarcerated kids.
The evening takes place at the magical Little City Farm—run by our very own HODGer Jenny Silbert. And yes, it is an actual farm… in the middle of LA. If you haven’t been, that alone is worth showing up for. But beyond the setting, this is really about the people.
You’ll have the opportunity—if you want it—to meet some of the young people Hoops has worked with, hear their stories, and also hear from Ilana Paruch, the organization’s co-founder and ED, and her amazing team.
So here’s the ask: set the rest of your life down for two hours, and come get proximate. Come spend a little time. Listen. Be in it.
Because once you do, it becomes very hard to see these kids as anything other than what they are: kids. Not monsters. Not disposable. Just young people who, like the young people in your lives, deserve a real shot.
Oh, also... delicious tamales will be served! Another reason to say yes.
